About the Role: SANE Registered Nurse

As a vital member of our SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) unit, you will play a crucial role in providing care for individuals of all ages who have experienced violence. Your expertise will ensure timely and accurate clinical assessments, interventions, and documentation for patients affected by sexual assault, child abuse, elder abuse, and interpersonal violence.

This is a regular PRN position with night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Your Impact: Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Conduct thorough clinical assessments and provide compassionate care for patients.
• Collect forensic evidence and maintain the chain of custody as needed.
• Develop safety plans and provide resources for follow-up medical care.
• Collaborate with medical staff, law enforcement, and advocacy groups.
• Participate in an on-call schedule and respond promptly to designated facilities.
• Complete clinical experiences as outlined by the SANE course and coordinator.
• Perform speculum exams and pediatric assessments under supervision.
• Utilize your knowledge of anatomy and injury patterns effectively.
• Attend continuing education and travel to other Cleveland Clinic facilities as required.
• Document findings clearly and provide photographic evidence of injuries.
• Offer court testimony when necessary.
• Engage in community awareness programs and attend staff meetings.
• Stay updated on legislation and best practices in care standards.

Are You the Right Fit? Qualifications

We’re looking for caregivers who meet the following minimum qualifications:

• Completion of an IAFN approved SANE Adolescent/Adult course within 60 days of hire.
• Completion of an IAFN approved SANE Pediatric course within one year of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• At least one year of recent RN experience.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Experience in Trauma, Women’s Health, or Pediatrics.

Physical Requirements

This role involves:

• Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.
• Maintaining a production rate pace, which can be physically demanding.

Personal Protective Equipment

As part of your role, you may need to use:

• Gloves, Masks, and Gowns as necessary.
