Position Overview:

We’re hiring a full-time Traffic Engineer / Transportation Planner to support a wide range of transportation projects—from traffic impact studies to multimodal corridor planning. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both technical analysis and public engagement, and who can confidently represent clients and the firm in public forums, agency hearings, and community meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct traffic studies and analyze data to identify trends, safety concerns, and operational improvements
• Prepare traffic impact analyses, transportation planning reports, and infrastructure recommendations
• Design and evaluate roadway and intersection improvements using modeling tools such as SYNCHRO, HCS, and GIS
• Collaborate with public agencies, private developers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver project goals
• Present findings and recommendations in public meetings, planning boards, and stakeholder sessions with professionalism and clarity
• Stay current with local, state, and federal transportation regulations and best practices
• Assist in project management tasks including budgeting, scheduling, and client coordination

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field
• 0–3 years of experience in traffic engineering or transportation planning (internships and co-ops count!)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and traffic modeling software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and technical writing
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Professional demeanor and confidence in representing clients and the firm in public settings

Preferred (but not required):

• Experience with GIS, AutoCAD, or MicroStation
• Familiarity with local development review processes and permitting
• Progress toward EIT, PE, AICP, or PTOE certification
