POSITION SUMMARY

Ready to shape Maine's transportation future? At Sebago Technics, great things happen because of great people—and the Transportation Land Surveyor plays a key role in making that possible! This role is all about conducting precision field surveys and preparing accurate survey documents for highway, bridge, ferry terminal, and transportation infrastructure projects. Working closely with engineers and project managers, you'll ensure accurate and timely data collection for transportation systems that keep Maine moving. We leverage cutting-edge technology including aerial photogrammetry, LiDAR, HDS terrestrial laser scanning, and GPS alongside traditional traverse methods to deliver accurate, safe project completion on busy roads and highways. Your work will span right-of-way boundaries, bridge surveys, locally administered projects (LAP), construction layouts, and topographic mapping—offering diverse challenges that keep every day interesting. This full-time role involves professional surveying work with opportunities for growth up to and including Professional Licensure. RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Be a conduit of information within team, between teams, and to and from leadership

· Keep up to date with technological advancements or new methods by reading and conducting research, participating in related associations, attending workshops and seminars, and taking additional coursework periodically.

· Have a general understanding of land use regulations as they relate to lot and site development. 

· Conduct field surveys using GPS, total stations, and other surveying equipment to collect data for transportation projects.

· Perform boundary, topographic, and construction staking surveys.

· Interpret and analyze survey data to prepare maps, plats, and legal descriptions.

· Collaborate with engineers, designers, and construction teams to provide accurate survey information.

· Maintain detailed field notes, sketches, and digital records of survey data.

· Assist in the preparation of right-of-way and easement documents.

· Utilize CAD and GIS software to process and present survey data.

KNOWLEDGE/COMPETENCIES

·Experience with land surveying practices and principles, preferably in DOT/Transportation projects.

· Experience working with survey and construction plans.

· Possession of a land surveying degree or license (PLS or LSIT) preferred.

· Possession of a bachelor’s degree in Survey Engineering preferred.

· Valid motor vehicle operator's license.

· Experience adjusting traverses and control networks and level runs.

EDUCATION

· Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

· LSIT or PLS License Preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The Transportation Surveyor position involves both field and office work, requiring the following physical abilities:

· Walk long distances over uneven terrain

· Lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly

· Work outdoors in all weather conditions

· Stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods

· Use hands and tools with precision

· Drive to field sites as needed.
